Making my first post here at clang.gg. I'm really excited that the Teletype module from Monome, along with some associated items, has been ported over to the VCV Rack platform. Teletype allows for livecoding within VCV Rack using simple scripts.

The latest release is at https://github.com/Dewb/monome-rack/releases/.

More on Teletype at https://monome.org/docs/teletype/.

And examples of very brief Teletype scripts are in this discussion thread on the Lines BBS: https://llllllll.co/t/teletype-haiku/.

I hadn't realized that the full grid was also available in VCV, might have to give it a try. I've always kind of avoided this type of full skeuomorphic software modular... but I don't have a grid anymore and could see how playing with a virtual one might satisfy an itch.

@emenel I'm with you on the aesthetic consideration here, that look is a bit cringy, and also a bit opposed to what I find really enticing about VCVRack, but hey, if it gets the job done.

Thanks for sharing this, I had no idea. I've been looking at folx using the hardware version and always been a bit curious what it was all about. What've you been using it for yourself in particular?

@bogdanraczynski Most of my use of music technology is just to understand it better. I'm not working toward releasing music. I just want to understand it better. That way, when I write about music, and interview musicians and coders and so forth, I have a deeper comprehension of the topic.

@disquiet that's a rare amount of depth, I think. Have you not been tempted to get involved yourself? Has your research given you any greater insight would you say?

@bogdanraczynski I do like playing stuff. Been taking guitar lessons, and using modular and software (and pedals) to manipulate the sound. I definitely have richer conversations with musicians now than I did 20 years ago, I think. Things that used to be mysterious no longer are (some turn out to be fairly mundane, once you understand the basics), whereas other aspects of conceiving, performing, and recording are even more interesting to me as subjects for discussion.
